Mid-Jefferson County Retired School Personnel partners with Philpott Ford to provide books to elementary students each year, rotating between elementary campuses of Nederland and Port Neches-Groves ISDs. Students at Groves Elementary were presented books on January 15, 2019. Since 1998, TRTA members have been heavily involved in the Children's Book Project. Since the project's inception, more than 600,000 books have been placed into the hands of children who otherwise might never have a book to call their own. In 2005, TRTA has expanded the Children’s Book Project to included donations from students to other students, which should increase this project's results significantly in years to come. This program is called the Student to Student Program. In 2014, 139,438 books were distributed as part of the Children's Book Project and the Student to Student Book Program. In 2015, 139,637 books were distributed as part of the Children's Book Project and the Student to Student Book Program. Donations have increased each year since the inception of the programs.
In 2021, 117,850 books were distributed as part of the TRTA's Children’s Book Project and the Student to Student Book Program.
