Beulah Thompson, Chair
The motto of the Community Volunteers Services Committee is “If it is to be, it is up to me.” It is with that purpose and those that follow that the committee exists.
- To lead TRTA members in providing needed services to their communities
- To provide opportunities for retired school personnel to continue their involvement in the community
- To encourage services of TRTA members on community boards, councils, and other local groups that make policies and furnish services for all people in the community
Chair Beulah Thompson reported that voluntary work was outstanding during 2018, almost doubling participating members and totaling 33,747 volunteer hours for the MJCRSP unit. Each volunteer hour is monetarily equal to $24.69, which translates a worth of $833,213.43 of service to the local community. Two members earned certificates of recognition for the amount of volunteer hours: Linda Fong’s time donation equaled $2,428 and Carolyn Worsham’s time donation equaled $2,060. This is the third year Carolyn has contributed more than 2000 volunteer hours to the community! Let’s make their records our own personal goals for 2019.
