Helen Reynolds, Chair

The TRTA Healthy Living Committee collaborates with state and national organizations to develop and implement programs for the maintenance and improvement of retirees’ physical, mental, and emotional health. The connection between food, physical activity and health are well documented. Offering healthy choices at meetings and other events can make it easier for people to eat healthy foods and be physically active in their daily lives.

Exercise is another component to maintaining good health in later years. One does not need to be an athlete or serious exerciser to maintain good health. If the gym scene is intimidating, simple workout routines can benefit your health and even make your clothes fit better. Some of the best physical activities for your body don't require the gym or ask you to get fit enough to run a marathon. There are many simple "workouts" that can do wonders for your health. They'll help keep your weight under control, improve your balance and range of motion, strengthen your bones, protect your joints, prevent bladder control problems, and even ward off memory loss.

The Healthy Living committee provides opportunities and information to retirees at meetings and through the monthly newsletters. The links below are a few samples.
