JANUARY 8 MEETING Meeting Summary Newsletter
Mid-Jefferson County Retired School Personnel met January 8 at the Ritter Center in Nederland with President Linda Briggs presiding. Beth West. owner, and Diane Fernandez, massage therapist, from Beau Visage presented the program "Massage Therapy for Seniors." The next meeting will be on February 12, 2013, at the Ritter Center. The program will be presented by Mark Rantala, the Economic Development Director from Nederland, who will share what the EDC is doing in our area.
FEBRUARY 12 MEETING Meeting Summary Newsletter
Mid-Jefferson County Retired School Personnel met January 8 at the Ritter Center in Nederland with President Linda Briggs presiding. Mark Rantala, Director of the Economic Development Council in Nederland, gave the program. He informed the group of the various enterprises that have come to Mid-County in 2012 as well as many scheduled for 213 and beyond. The next meeting will be on March12, 2013, at the Ritter Center. The program will be presented by Stephanie Herrin of the Museum of the Gulf Coast. Plans will be made for TRTA Day at the Capitol on March 20 and the TRTA state convention in Corpus Christi in April.

State Representative Allan Ritter addressed members and guests on September 10 at MJCRSP's annual fall luncheon honoring new retirees. The luncheon was held at the West Groves Education Center. Representative Ritter gave special attention to the role retirees paid in the passage of SB1458 in the recent legislative session. He congratulated the efforts of TRTA members saying, "We couldn't have done it without what started right here. You have to stand up and have your voices heard. Don't quit." Following his address, the regular meeting was called to order. Members made plans to attend the District V Fall Conference to be held on October 3 in Beaumont. The next meeting will be on October 8 at the Ritter Center in Nederland. Gail Shook of Airport Travel will present the program.
OCTOBER 8 MEETING Meeting Summary Newsletter
Gail Shook of Airport Travel addressed members of MJCRSP on October 8 regarding travel opportunities for seniors and the benefits of using a travel agent to book flights, hotels, rentals and other vacation activities. Dana Wasser, first vice president, presided at the business meeting. She announced that the ongoing membership drive has netted more than 230 members with new individuals joining daily. The hostesses included Linda Harrison (chair), Mary Beth McDuff, Candye Martin, Helen Reynolds, and Beulah Thompson, who provided healthy refreshments. The next meeting will be November 12 at the Ritter Center with Game Warded Robbie Smith providing the program.

Game Warden David Benoit addressed members of MJCRSP on November 12 regarding the responsibilities and duties of a Texas game warden. He explained the training process as well as the areas of jurisdiction of game wardens in Texas. Gail Krohn, second vice president, presided at the business meeting. She stressed the importance of keeping informed about candidates running for political office in the 2014 elections. Members enjoyed "healthy" refreshments prepared by Linda Harrison (chair), Candye Martin, Helen Reynolds, and Beulah Thompson. The nominations committee gave a brief report along with reports from the Children's Book Project committee, yearbook committee, volunteer committee, healthcare committee, and protective services/memorials/get well committee. The next meeting will be December 10 at the Ritter Center with all members attending providing Christmas edibles for refreshments. Christmas music will be presented by Becky Seymour and Deann Tanner. Dallas Mullins of AMBA will also address the membership.
DECEMBER 10 MEETING Meeting Summary Newsletter
The Music of Christmas filled the air at the December 10 meeting of MJCRSP. Deanne Tanner, Lori Hamilton, Anita Smith, and Becky Seymore entertained the members with an array uplifting sounds to celebrate the holiday season. Members brought Christmas goodies to share with others. Dallas Mullins of AMBA was also in attendance. He reviewed the many benefits available to TRTA members. President Linda Briggs presided at the business meeting. The nominations committee gave a brief report along with reports from the Children's Book Project committee, yearbook committee, volunteer committee, healthcare committee, and protective services/memorials/get well committee.
