Vice President Clara Graham presided at the April 14, 2015, meeting of the Mid-Jefferson County Retired School Personnel held at the Ritter Senior Center in Nederland. Members of the Golden Inspirations, a dance team from the Best Times Center in Beaumont, presented a program of dance to inspirational music. Lynn Huckaby spoke to the members about the dance program, noting that many of the members--all over sixty years of age -- are former teachers. Refreshments were provided by Candye Martin, (chairman), Mary Beth McDuff, Beulah Thompson, Linda Harrison, and Carolyn Martin. Delegates to the TRTA state convention in April reported on workshops and legislative issues. The next meeting will be May 12; installation of officers will be conducted.
MAY 12 MEETING Meeting Summary Newsletter
President Gail Krohn presided at the May 12, 2015, meeting of the Mid-Jefferson County Retired School Personnel held at the Ritter Senior Center in Nederland. Following a brief business meeting, officers for 2015-2016 were installed: President, Gail Krohn; First Vice President Clara Graham; Second Vice President Dianne Trevey; Secretary Donna Lumpkin; and Treasurer Mary Beth McDuff. Refreshments were provided by Candye Martin, (chairman), Mary Beth McDuff, Beulah Thompson, Linda Harrison, and Carolyn Martin. President Krohn reported on the Spring Leadership Workshop hosted by MJCRSP in April. Members were reminded to keep track of volunteer hours during the summer months. A planning session for officers and committee chairs will be held August 12 at First United Methodist Church in Nederland from 10 AM until noon. On September 8 new retirees from Port Neches-Groves and Nederland ISDs will be honored at the fall luncheon to be held at the West Groves Education Center.

President Gail Krohn presided at the September 8, 2015, meeting of the Mid-Jefferson County Retired School Personnel held at the Port Neches-Groves ISD board room in Groves. Special guests included new retirees Rhonda Posey and Martha Palmer as well as area leaders: County Commissioner Brent Weaver, State Representative Dade Phelan, MJCRSP President Gail Krohn, and MJCRSP Legislative Chairman Richard Briggs. Following a luncheon, Representative Phelan updated members on recent legislation and fielded questions from the floor. President Krohn then called the business meeting to order. The Fall Conference will be held in Beaumont on October 1. The next meeting will be October 13 at the Ritter Center in Nederland with Troy Gray of the Gladys City Lucas Gusher Museum providing the program.

President Gail Krohn presided at the October 13, 2015, meeting of the Mid-Jefferson County Retired School Personnel held at the Ritter Senior Center in Nederland. Second Vice President Dianne Trevey introduced Troy Gray, Director of the Gladys City Gusher Museum, who shared the history of Spindletop with members. He also informed about the programs collaborated with Lamar University and the volunteer opportunities available. President Krohn then called the business meeting to order. President Krohn and Lynne James reported on the Fall Conference held in Beaumont on October 1. The next meeting will be November 10 at the Ritter Center in Nederland with Superintendent Rob Madding (NISD) and Dr. Rodney Cavness (PNGISD) presenting the program.

DECEMBER 8 MEETING Meeting Summary Newsletter
President Gail Krohn presided at the December 8, 2015, meeting of the Mid-Jefferson County Retired School Personnel held at the Ritter Senior Center in Nederland. President Krohn also led the members in Christmas carols. Book Chairman Patricia Allen reported that 245 books had been distributed to students at Helena Park Elementary and Hillcrest Elementary, both in Nederland ISD. Past President Linda Briggs announced the slate of officers for 2016-2017. Refreshments were provided by Rose Reese (chairman), Becky Dungan, Linda Fong, and Linda Briggs. The program for the January 2016 meeting will be by Wayne Moore, CEO of Christus Health System.
